SiC NWS-toughened SiC coated C/C composites and GH3044 were successfully joined. SiC coating could relieve the CTE mismatch between C/C composites and superalloy. Residual stress in the joint was reduced by SiC coating. The C/C-GH3044 joint is significantly strengthened and toughened by SiC NWS. The strengthening mechanism relies on changes of crack propagation and pinning effect.
