Montmorillonite/stearic acid/(Mt/SA) microcapsules were designed via self-assembly. Microcapsules were coated with the hydrolyzate SiO2 to enhance the structure stability. Mt/SA presented spherical particles with a size distribution from 10 to 30 μm. Mt/SA showed higher thermal storage and release rate with excellent stability.
