•: RGO decorated raspberry-like TiO₂ microspherical composites were synthesized.
•: RGO-TiO₂ composites showed photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) under visible irradiation.
•: The best photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI) was observed for the composite of 5 wt% rGO decoration.
•: Enhanced photocatalytic activity was due to extended wavelength region and quicker transfer of electrons.
