Reported in this communication are Co^III(cyclam) compounds bearing a gem-diethynylethene ligand (gem-DEE; 1鈥?b>3), including the first examples of 3d metal bimetallic species bridged by gem-DEE (2 and 3). Compounds 1 and 2 were prepared in satisfactory yields under ambient conditions using mild alkylamine bases. X-ray structural characterizations revealed the retention of key geometric features of the gem-DEE ligand upon metalation.
