Based on first-principles calculations, the electronic and magnetic properties of As doped wurtzite ZnO were studied. The results indicate that the As dopant can induce the magnetic moment of about 1.0μ B , the coupling between the magnetic moments induced by As is ferromagnetic, for which the p–p interaction between As and O atoms should be responsible.
