Chromatographic resin (Acinide™) was used to study the feasibility of the extraction of 231Pa in presence of its daughter products. The 231Pa in varying HCl molarity of 1.02–8.16 M was extracted with the Acinide™ resin. The back extraction was done with the extracting agents such as the alpha scintillator, di-isobutyl ketone and isopropayl alcohol. The alpha activity was estimated by scintillation counting and a maximum 57–77% of yield was obtained with HCl of 8.16 M. The estimation of 231Pa is important in the Th-U fuel reprocessing cycle of advanced heavy water reactor and accelerated driven sub-critical system.
