Because of increased interactions between new advanced technologies and societies, there is a growing interest in biomedical technology and its applications. This study introduces an integrated research model to investigate public intentions to use biomedical technology and its applications that employs six factors that influence public intentions to use a particular biotechnology. Data on 2384 South Korean respondents found that public intentions to use biomedical technology and its applications were mostly determined by public attitudes toward that technology and its applications, and those public attitudes were significantly determined by perceived risks and benefits of using the biomedical technology and its applications. In addition, perceived risks and benefits were determined by general attitudes toward technology, social trust, perceived public trust, knowledge of biomedical technology, and perceived privacy. The implications of the statistical results and suggestions for successful implementation of biomedical technologies are discussed.KeywordsBiomedical technologyBenefitRiskSouth KoreaAttitude
