Most of the structural failures in industrial piping are attributed to fatigue due to flow induced vibrations which are generally random. However conventional method of fatigue life design cannot be adopted directly since the forcing functions are not known a priori. In such a scenario, the Theory of Inverse Problems has been applied for the loading reconstruction from the in situ measurements. In our study a method for the calculation of Power Spectral Density for the force excitations has been presented along with the fatigue life estimation under the theoretical frame-work of random vibration. A case study has also been provided as an application of the method so presented. Keywords Random vibrations Fatigue Inverse Problem Power Spectral Density
