The article discusses the relevance of digitization for social work on the basis of current theory discourses. It focuses on social developments, economic interests and recipient-related effects as well as specialized internal discourses (e. g. internet gaming disorder). All these aspects have to be included in theory, practice, research and academic studies of social work in order to handle challenges of digitization constructively.
