This hermeneutic, critical discourse analysis (CDA) study, reviewed the microaggression taxonomy and the organizational anti-LGBTQ and the anti-LGBTQ microaggressions that have ignited protests, boycotts, and retaliations. Nine events, spanning two decades, were randomly selected from 32 potential samples that fulfilled theoretical criteria and maintained sociocultural and organizational relevance. The research of Derald Wing Sue (2010a,2010b),Sue and Capodilupo (2008),Nadal,Rivera,and Corpus (2010) and other microaggression researchers, were either validated,or challenged. Four themes from the microaggression taxonomy (i.e.,microinsults,microassaults,microinvalidations,and environmental macroaggressions) were utilized, along with 13 classifications that were identified,or adapted from microaggression studies;two were new classifications. Thirteen findings and 11 general themes were explored. The qualitative study drew consistent conclusions from the application of ethical principles and ethical and retaliatory screening tools. The synthesis of David Hawkins's (2002) map of consciousness in the concluding stages was a welcome surprise that provided similar results of the studies ethical findings and foundational strategies and insights for future researchers to draw upon. The summation of the primary research question revealed that anti-LGBTQ microaggressions that ignited protests, boycotts, and organizational retaliation, often occurred when the sociocultural norms and expectations of society were violated;moreover, microassaults, generalized assumptions (microinsults),and environmental macroaggressions, were equally problematic and led to retaliation. The study also reviewed and contrasted anti-LGBTQ vs. anti-racial microaggressions as a means of providing historical comparisons. The critical study reviewed language in relation to ideology and power, and considered discourse in the process of sociocultural and political change and anti-religious microaggressions. The hope of the study was identified as organizational leaders used respectful dialogue and sought to learn from those they had harmed. Some leaders managed to validate and accept the oppositional party, without sacrificing their internal position or organizational values;when this occurred, mutual respect was fostered. These and other recommendations for further research were identified.
