CO2 adsorption by Y-Type zeolite impregnated with amines in indoor air
摘要
CO2 capture from the indoor air and concentrated by cyclic adsorption–desorption processes are studied.Y-type zeolite was synthesized with a Si and Al molar ratio of 17 referred to as Y17.The synthesized Y-type zeolite was impregnated with amines used to capture CO2 for maintaining good indoor air quality (IAQ).Three kinds of amines including monoethanol amine (MEA),isopropanol amine (IPA),and tetraethylenepent amine (TEPA) were selected to study the performance of CO2 adsorption capacity at a fixed-bed in an 80-L air chamber These amies-loaded Y17 were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM),X-ray Diffraction (XRD),Infrared Spectroscopy (IR) and Thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) to examine their textural properties before and after amines-impregnation.The CO2 adsorption capacities of Y17-modified was substantially higher than that of original Y17,and the highest capacity can reach up to 158 mg/g-adsorbent-hr.The study indicated that the order of adsorption capacity was TEPA > MEA > IPA.First-order kinetic model was fitted to Y17-modified adsorption behavior very well. The rate constant (k) of first-order adsorption model can be further used to design and apply in CO2 control system.Given the result of this study, amines functionalized Y17 are a great potential adsorbent fro removing indoor CO2.
