Objective To study the secondary metabolites of the marine cyanobacterium Okeania hirsuta and their cytotoxic activity. Methods The structures of the isolated three natural compounds(1~3)were identified by comprehensive spectroscopic data including ~1H NMR,~(13)C NMR,2D NMR and ESIMS.Results Compound 3 showed strong cytotoxic activity against human lung tumor cell line NCI-H460 with an IC50 value of 0.384μg/mL.Conclusion This is the first time to isolate these compounds from cyanobacteria of the genus Okeania. The discovery of these natural products suggests that the cyanobacterial genus Okeania would be a significant resource of structurally interesting molecules in the future.
